What teacher had the biggest influence on you as a student & why?: My high school teacher, Mr. Romano, had the biggest influence on me as a student. Mr. Romano helped me realize that my dream of one day becoming a special education teacher was possible. Mr. Romano taught me to believe in myself and showed me that I am capable of doing whatever I set my mind to. I will forever be grateful for all of the lessons Mr. Romano taught me, his constant support and encouragement and helping me become the teacher I am today.

Fondest memory on the job: I have so many wonderful memories with my students, but a few of my favorites include: our Winter Craft Sales, CBI Trips, the Play Unified Tailgate, watching my students present at the Dare to Dream Conference  and watching them walk across the stage at graduation.

What inspires you: My students inspire me every day.

How do you make connections with students?: We often refer to the teachers and students in our program as our "SOAR Family". In our program we are blessed in the fact that we get to work with the same group of students for a few years in a row. As a result, we truly become a family as we get to know each other's likes, interests, hopes and dreams. Then we support one another along the way. I also have the joy of getting to know the students outside of the classroom by coaching many of them in Special Olympics.

If you could pass on your wisdom regarding your job, what would you share: "See the able not the label"

What makes a good day at school?: Seeing my students smile
